Citizen of Kentucky burned lawn chairs, sofas and set fires ablaze in the middle of the street. This was over their team losing. Don’t get too upset though. The fires were set by white kids. That’s why you probably didn’t even know that it happened. It was the second year that Kentucky was bounced from the NCAA tournament, in which riots had broken out for the second time. The news coverage was rather cute. Just teens being teens. Kids acting out because their team lost. At least city officials were able to claim that 2 kids were arrested. 27 others were also detained. Many students were injured as bottles were burned and thrown everywhere. Police suited up in riot gear and wore protective shields. Many of the students were chanting, “Fuck that Shit!” One thing we do know for certain is that there was no increase in militarized police force or set curfews. We also know that Obama was not accused of starting the riots. So what was so different about these riots that hardly got any news coverage? There actually were a few things that were different. These kids were spoiled brats who couldn’t accept that there team lost. Now, let’s compare their motives to Baltimore. In Baltimore, the kids were rioting because they felt victimized due to increase police fatalities concerning African American citizens. Over the last few years you may have heard plenty of coverage about police officers killing unarmed black men, that were essentially, no threat. Videos of unarmed black men running away and getting shot in the back. All of these cases have one element in common. .. the people who murdered them walked free and were praised by mainly white America. The kids in Baltimore simply got fed up with it when it happened too close to home. Though they rioted, no one was harmed or injured. I am particularly impressed but concerned with how the police handled this particular situation. It was reported that officers were treated for injuries, but politics are as usual. The police had on riot gear so you can pretty much guess that the claims they were injured is basically b.s.
But why didn’t the cops shoot and kill these kids since they were so brutal and dangerous as to put them in the hospital? Any other time the teens that these police officers slaughter are not even armed, but these cops execute them easily. So are you telling me that when kids are armed, they are less threatening? Or perhaps, these police officers were not fearing for their lives. That’s pretty interesting, or maybe testimony that police officers go too far overboard when they kill unarmed black men and children. Of course, the news will vehemently report these riots as much s they can and give us around the clock updates on the situation. Very different from Kentucky, which we didn’t even know existed until a city council man commented about it. Don’t you just love the media? The truth is, we do not live in a perfect world or society. People will express themselves when they feel the need. It was Malcolm X who said that the media is the most powerful force in the world. The media can make innocent people guilty and guilty people innocent. We know one thing for certain. When white kids riot because their team lost, it’s okay. When black kids become revolutionaries who riot for justice, they become the problem. Looting and Riots Baltimore Looting and Riots Baltimore Looting and Riots Baltimore
